Choosing a Dish

Decide the channels that you want to receive and research where they are carried

Determine the beam or beams on the satellites and the footprint of each beam (you will not be able to receive signals when the footprint does not cover your location

Use a chart to determine the size of a dish needed to receive RELIABLE signals (many dishes will receive well during normal weather conditions but will fall apart during bad weather or rain).

Dish Sizes

A mini dish will usually be sufficient for basic satellite needs

60 cm gives relatively good all weather capability.

80cm or 90 cm is best for use with a 2 or 3 satellite system.

90 cm or 100 cm will provide more signal and better all weather capability.
